Vilnius Cogeneration Power Plant has prepared a program for measurement of air pollution concentration in Lazdynai district. The program, prepared taking into account the preferences of the residents of Lazdynai district, aims to assess the concentration of air pollutants before the start of operation of the Vilnius Cogeneration Power Plant and during its operation.

The modern equipment used for monitoring allows to obtain reliable data on the nature of air pollution, changes in concentration and possible sources of pollution. The measurement results are publicly available and regularly presented to the residents of Lazdynai district and other stakeholders.

Air pollution is monitored by a mobile laboratory which will perform continuous measurements of particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and benzene and other measurements during 4 weeks in different seasons. Measurements of furans and dioxins will be performed twice a year: in the cold and warm periods. The measurement of ambient air quality will take into account instantaneous meteorological conditions and will indicate the facilities in operation at that time, which can determine the concentration of pollutants in the air.
