Lviv company will modernize old CHP to alternative fuels

Pilot project for the conversion of obsolete CHP to alternative fuels is being implemented by Ecopower Lviv company in Kyiv region. With the help of European equipment, Lviv citizens are introducing technologies for the substitution of expensive gas.

Commissioning of equipment, which will soon be installed in Kyiv region, is being completed in Lviv.

“The automatic control system of mini-CHP, which will operate on wood chips and some waste, has been assembled here”, said Victor Pilat, head of Ecopower. - After the preparatory works are completed here, the equipment will be delivered to the site. The renewed CHP will be launched till the end of September. And people will receive heat in their homes this year.”

Modern German equipment allows modernizing outdated and energy-consuming combined heat and power plants. The entire system is computerized and fully automatic. An operator controls work of the station with several keys. Citizens receive both electricity and heat.

“There are many forests here, and there are large woodworking enterprises - sawmills and furniture companies. Production waste was burned or thrown away, - said electric engineer Bogdan Rudyk. - After introduction of this station, it is possible to burn this waste and convert it into energy, which is in short supply now. And it is more environmentally friendly than coal combustion.”
Such methods of transition to alternative fuels are actively used in Europe. For example, in Lithuania. “This system is completely European. It is completely different from the Soviet, - said Victor Pilat, head of Ecopower. - We have launched dozens of such facilities in Europe already. That is why it is routine work for us. But it is innovation for Ukraine. In Europe, and already in Ukraine, people realized that there is no opportunity to “play” with expensive gas.”

The suggestion of Lviv company is to switch from gas combustion to local types of fuel. Such CHPs are able to solve the energy problems of Ukrainian cities.
