Biofuel-fired boiler plant of UAB "Orion Global PET"

The specialists of "ECOPOWER" LLC completed the start-up and commissioning works on the high-temperature organic heat transfer fluid biofuel-fired boiler plant at the facility of UAB "Orion Global PET".

The facility of UAB "Orion Global PET" is situated in the third largest city in Lithuania (after the capital Vilnius and Kaunas) – Klaipeda, which is located in the Western part of the country,  in the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon merging spot.

Using the latest technology innovations, the plant manufactures a unique plastic PET (polyethylene terephthalate), which is produced using raw materials derived from crude oil. PET is used in food packaging and other applications, such as packaging for cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, homecare, healthcare and industrial applications.

The final stage of work was the complex testing of the 12.6 MW boiler manufactured by Energia Impianti and auxiliary equipment of the biofuel-fired boiler plant for 72 hours of continuous operation of the biofuel-fired plant at a nominal power, which took place on 18 to 21 June 2016.

The biofuel-fired boiler plant put into operation at the facility has become an alternative to the replacement of the existing gas-fired boilers, which makes it possible to be a more efficient and energy-independent enterprise.
