Construction of a waste-to-energy combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Kaunas (Lithuania).
UAB Kauno Kogeneracinė Jėgainė (KKJ), a joint venture owned by the Finnish energy group Fortum and the state-owned group of energy companies Ignitis Group, is completing the construction of a waste-to-energy combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Kaunas (Lithuania).
At the beginning of 2020, specialists of Ecopower LLC joined the commissioning works of the main and auxiliary equipment of Kaunas CHP to carry out a range of works, namely, inspection, adjustment and testing of thermal, mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure the rated parameters and modes preset in the project. The purpose of commissioning works is the accident-free and safe start-up of the plant systems, as well as their commissioning.
One high-efficiency steam boiler with thermal capacity of 85 MW (steam pressure - 75 bar, temperature - 450 ° C, steam capacity - 112 t / h) and a steam turbine with electric capacity of 24 MW have been installed at the Kaunas CHP.
The total cost of the project is about EUR 160 million, the station shall start working in the first half of 2020.
